Min-Grant Facts & Traditional Schedule
The purpose of the grants is to support small projects of non-profits that serve our neighborhoods. Applications are accepted from June through July 31st, and recipients of Mini-Grants are notified September 30th. The funds are awarded in February following the M2M Bike Tour (always the first Saturday in December). The supported projects to be completed within a year. As part of the grant process, a completion report with photos is required. Grants are awarded once yearly and are not automatically renewed; grant applications must be submitted each year beginning in June.

Basic Education & Literacy
- Project Transformation Rio Texas - Protect Transformation's mission is to transform communities by engaging children, college-age young adults, and churches in purposeful relationships. Grant dollars will be utilized to purchase books and curriculum supplies for holistic summer day camp programming for elementary & middle school-age children.
- Partners for Youth-Enrichment Unit - Partners for Youth helps provide support for children and families involved in the juvenile justice system, particularly youth who are currently on probation. Grant funds will be used to purchase a laptop and music making software to provide music opportunities and the tools to help develop pro social leisure engagement and access to extra-curricular activities.
- Thrive Youth Center - Thrive provides a safe, supportive place where LGBTQ+ youthcan heal from the trauma of homelessness, be affirmed in their
identity, and be welcomes into the LGBTQ+ community. The Education and Employment program works tirelessly to support youth with their educational and occupational goals so they are empowered to move forward with their dreams while removing any financial obstacle. Grant funds will be used to purchase clothing for interviews for 50 homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
- Southwind Fields - Southwind Fields helps low-income adults with disabilities who are at-risk of homelessness to live as independently as possible
within the community and to achieve the dream of living a life they love in their own apartment. Grant funds will be used to purchase equipment and create a series of promotional videos to spread awareness of the high risk of homelessness and exploitation for adults with disabilities, create a myriad of learning opportunities and support for their clients and the general public to learn living skills. This project will also serve as an opportunity for skill-building and future employment opportunities for clients to learn video production and editing.
- Classic Theatre of San Antonio - The Classic Theatre creates excellent theatre that is compelling, relevant, diverse, entertaining, and transformative including mainstage performances, Classic Second Series of smaller productions, and free student performances for Title 1 high school students. San Antonio is under-represented in the classic repertoire - the basis for America’s common cultural heritage and communities deserves the opportunity to attend theatre and to experience dramatic masterpieces in a live, shared theatrical experience. This grant will support "Peter and the Starcatcher” - a rollicking Disney musical comedy for all ages based on the beloved book series and detailing the origins of the Peter Pan story. Funds will be used for artist feed, technical production, and special advertising focusing on economically disadvantaged areas of San Antonio who could not otherwiseafford to attend a performance.
- Culturingua - Culturingua elevates people and heritage of the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia by providing programming for students to improve their global competencies, community development programs, and arts & culture programs that build bridges and cross-cultural understanding. Grant funds will support the Sewing for Success low income Afghan refugee women with sewing machines, fabric, and training to create dresses and potentially receive an industry-recognized credential along with English language skills.
- Children Rehabilitation Institute Teleton (CRIT)- CRIT serves impoverished children with neurological, muscular
and skeletal disabilities through comprehensive,compassionate, state of the art rehabilitation program focused on family healing and inclusion. Grant funds will be used to support 50 families with turkeys for the Christmas holiday.
- Empower House SA (formerly Martinez Street Women's Center)- Empower House SA provides transformative community health services, youth development programs, and advocacy opportunities that empower women and girls of color. Grant funds will be used to refurbish two vans that are used to transport youth in their Empower Youth Development program. They will facilitate the creation of beautiful murals by local artists on the vans.
- Lone Star Neighborhood Association - The Lonestar Neighborhood Association provides educational opportunities to learn about the neighborhood, resources for residents, cultural planning, and activities to enhance the community between S. Alamo, N. Flores, Probandt, and Mitchell. Grant funds will be used to support a free and open to he public event called Unity Festival and picnic at Roosevelt Park and pavilion that will target disadvantaged youth andfamilies whole promoting community pride and unity.
- The Dee Howard Foundation - The foundation is working to ensure that youth have access and opportunities to experiences the Aerospace industry. Grant dollars will provide 15 Art Educator grants to teachers running a campus level Aerospace art contest.
Disease Prevention & Treatment
- TEAMability- TEAMability gives children with complex disabilities opportunities to achieve their potential and experience the joy of success. Grant dollars will be used to purchase a bubble tube needed to advance the functioning and skills of children using the Visual Skills Development Room including learning to fixate and reach to touch, calming sensation with soft touch and light vibration for those with sensory integration disorders and a quiet space for those with autism who need a soothing environment.
Maternal & Child Health
- ChildSafe- ChildSafe restores dignity, hope, and trust to children traumatized by abuse and neglect. The Child Advocacy Center will use grant funds to provide children with a room makeover to include new furniture and décor items that will eliminate the day-to-day trauma reminders that may exist for them in their room allowing them to plan and create a safe space to create new memories in.
- Roy Maas Youth Alternatives- RMYA serves children and families who have experience trauma from abuse & neglect creating brighter futures for
those in crisis by promoting individual success and healthy relationships in a safe, healing environment. Grant dollars will provide the Centro Seguro Street Outreach program with 50 care packages to include a blanket, stuffed animal, clothing and travel sized toiletries for homeless youth. The team offers resources, makes connections, and invites youth to come to RMYA to receive additional services
Peacemaking and Conflict Prevention
- Texas A&M-SA Institute for School & Community Partnerships- TAMUSA supports students through innovative practices,research, and equitable policy so they can reach their full potential. Grant funds will used at the Gus Garcia University School SMART (stress-free mindfulness art) Garden to expand students social/ emotional practices, provide an outdoor space for students to engage in nature and work with their hands, and allow students to build mindfulness skills to assist them in becoming self-aware and make positive choices. This garden will be built in partnership with Able City, a SA-based architectural firm and Gardopia Gardens who will help plan, build, and maintain the learning space, orchard, and pollinator garden.
